You are like the clouds.

You must keep moving.

seedlings

A monthly circle for those living between worlds.

A place to connect and explore belonging, rootlessness and our individual understanding of “home”.

Perhaps you grew up between cultures. Perhaps, like me, you've moved countries and discovered that home is no longer a simple answer. Perhaps you belong to several places at once, or don't feel entirely at home in any of them.

Once a month, we gather and explore themes connected to home, belonging and the experience of living between worlds.

Themes might include: HOME, GRIEF, RETURN, MEMORY, ROOTS, RELATIONSHIPS, LANGUAGE, DEPARTURE, IDENTITY, WHAT WE LEAVE BEHIND, THE OUTSIDER, RITUALS

Seedlings is an open online circle for people navigating rootlessness, third-culture identity and life between places, cultures and ideas of home.

A space to tell our stories. To listen to those of others. To explore what has helped us find connection with ourselves, with other people, with creativity, nature and the spirit of the land.

why seedlings?

Every seed grows differently. A seedling is alive and becoming before its roots get a chance to run deep.

I created SEEDLINGS from a longing to connect with others like me and from a wish to in some little way, help those in transition to know that they are not alone.

For those of us who have moved between countries, cultures, languages or identities, belonging may not come from finding the one place where we finally fit.

Perhaps it takes shape in the form of experience and feeling. In a world between worlds filled with stories of wonder and the new and stories of challenges and loss.

Seedlings isn't about finding one material place to call home. It is a place to explore what belonging might mean when home has never been a simple answer. It is a circle of community to share our hearts and listen to others from within the in-between.

Knowing that you love the earth changes you, activates you to defend and protect and celebrate. But when you feel that the earth loves you in return, that feeling transforms the relationship from a one-way street into a sacred bond.

YOU MAY fiND SOMETHING HERE IF…

  • You grew up between countries or cultures.

  • You grew up in a multi-cultural household.

  • You have spent much of your life adapting to new environments.

  • You miss people, languages, landscapes or versions of yourself that belong somewhere else.

You don't need to identify with a particular label to join.

You are invited to come with a memory, story, object, image, thought or question connected to home that you might like to share. There is never any obligation to share.
